The RC4/8 activated carbon used in Phresh® filters is activated at 1200 degrees in a steam saturated atmosphere, opening up tiny pores within the material, this creates a larger surface area making the carbon more absorbent and giving the carbon a positive ionic charge which allows it to attract materials with negative ionic charges such as gases and unpleasant odours produced in a hot and often humid growing environment meaning that any impurities in your air will be attracted to the carbon in the filter where they will be absorbed and locked away.
In testing the carbon used in Phresh Filters was proven to absorb 108.3% of its own weight in impurities in an ideal environment, this amazing absorption can be presented in terms of an industry standard ID factor, which basically represents how much iodine each single gram of activated carbon can absorb. Regular coal burned carbon has an ID factor of around 500 mg/g ID whereas the carbon used in Phresh® Filters has a guaranteed minimum analysis of 1050 mg/g ID which is more than any other filter we know in the industry right now.
Phresh Filters also have the lowest ash content and apparent density of any filter we know of, this means that you get more useful material for your money as ash does not absorb gases or unpleasant odours and the lower the apparent density the more the carbon in the filter is capable of absorbing!

Sometimes called CMH (Ceramic Metal Halide) grow lights, CDM (Ceramic Discharge Metal-Halide) lamps give out an intense full spectrum of light that plants love.
What is a CMH Light?
Firstly, if you’re not familiar with what the acronym CMH stands for; its Ceramic Metal Halide. Which might not mean a great deal to you, so let’s delve a little deeper.
Without getting too scientific, the basic principle behind CMH lights is that they are constructed out of a ceramic compound rather than a more traditional quartz. This allows the lamp to reach a higher temperature than a HID lamp, which creates an excellent blend of the gases that ultimately provide a fuller light spectrum, which in turn provides a higher yielding, higher quality plant. The lamp itself though does not get hotter than a HID and in fact will be cooler.
