The industry is changing, and the competition between CMD lamp producers has become fierce. If you want to grow better, you must stay up to date on the latest horticultural lighting technology. This means getting better acquainted with ceramic metal halides, also called light-emitting ceramics, which are the latest in HID lighting.
315w L.E.C (light emitting ceramic) or CMD technology is a definite favourite with the Hytec team as its the most efficient grow lighting available right now with a micro mol output of 1.87 per watt (µmol/W).
CMD growth lamps are made with an arc tube made of a ceramic composite instead of quartz or PCA; thus, allowing the cell to reach a higher temperature. The higher operating temperature of the ceramic tube allows for an ideal gas mixture. This creates a complete spectrum of light that increases the growth, overall health and performance of your plants.
The money you save on your electricity bill is the primary reason to switch to CMD grow light technology. The output is equal to a 600w but with half the power consumption and nowhere near the heat produced by a 600w, a major plus when the summer kicks in!
Although the initial cost of the system is more expensive than other HID systems on the market, CMD systems will save you money in the long run as there are low running costs and the longevity of the lamps is phenomenal. The life expectancy of these bulbs are rated @ 30,000 hr which means around; 2500 days of flowering @ a 12/12 lighting cycle!
Another advantage is their superior light quality compared to other HID lamps, which is due to having a wider spectrum - a result of the almost perfect unique combination of salts, halides and gases used in the arc tube. Like other high-intensity discharge lamps, these lamps need a nominal frequency value Digital Ballast, e.g. the maxibright daylight, plus a high-quality Reflector - e.g. the maxibright horizon.
