Soil and compost are the go-to choices for new and organic growers, providing a reliable and simple growth medium in which plants can thrive. Because these products come pre-charged with fertiliser and contain lime and other buffering agents, there is no need to include fertiliser until several weeks into growth, nor is there a need to adjust pH. 

For young, delicate plants and those confident growers wanting more control over their feeding, a Light Mix is recommended, being only lightly fertilised. For more mature plants, an All Mix is most suitable. Growers wanting a heavily fertilised soil that will provide a larger supply of nutrients for a longer period should choose a soil infused with bat guano, such as House & Garden Bat Mix Special.
